The average cost of renting a property in Britain has risen to £1,204 per month for the first time ever.
In some places, that amount will enable you to rent a four-bedroom detached house, but in others, it may only extend to a room in an apartment share.
However, one thing that has held steady is the rise in average rents, which are up 7.1 percent from a year ago.
Tenants now charge an extra £960 in rent per year compared to this time in 2021, according to Hamptons Estate Agents.

Daniel Copley, of property website Zoopla, said: “The rental market is getting more competitive, and prices have also gone up.
Private landlords selling their homes due to tax and regulatory changes is putting more pressure on the market and we expect demand to continue to outpace supply and continue to pressure rents into 2023.
“However, there are signs that the pace of price growth is peaking and set to slow in the coming year as renters seek smaller, better-value homes to rent.”
So what is the average amount of rent cash buying renters looking for a new home across the country?
